HELEN A. BETTIN, 73, of Jackson passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2012 at the Jackson Good Samaritan Center. Funeral service will be on Friday, May 18, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hunter Township, Jackson County with Pastor Bart Mueller officiating. Burial will be in the City Cemetery in Welcome, Minnesota.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 to 7 PM at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont and on Friday – one hour prior to the service at the Church.
HELEN ANN BETTIN was born December 4, 1938 in Norristown, Pennsylvania to Frances and Dorothy (Miller) Schiefer. She grew up in Norristown, Pennsylvania and attended St. Patrick’s Catholic School. She was united in marriage to Darrell Bettin on July 7, 1956 at Valley Forge Chapel inValley Forge, Pennsylvania. After marriage they lived in various locations around the United States while Darrell was in the Navy. In 1968 they settled in the Fairmont, Welcome area. They were blessed with five children Charles, Ronald, Lonnie, Kim, and Jo Ann Bettin. Darrell passed away on April 29, 1978. Helen continued to make her home in Welcome until she moved to Jackson in 1997. She had been a cook in various restaurants throughout the area. She was baptized into the Catholic faith. She attended the Lutheran church after marriage. She became a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hunter Township, near Lakefield, Minnesota in 2004. She enjoyed traveling back to Pennsylvania to visit family and friends. Helen also enjoyed attending church, shopping, gardening, but most of all she loved taking care of her family and spending time with her grandchildren.
Helen is survived by 2 sons, Chuck (Betty) Bettin of Jackson and Ron (Lori) Bettin of Sherburn, 2 daughters, Kim (Larry Schumski, Jr.) Borntrager of Fairmont and JoAnn (Steven Gellert) Bettin of Fairmont, 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, June Lenzi of Chester, Pennsylvania and Theresa Bickert of Atglen, Pennsylvania and a brother, Bill Schiefer of Atglen, Pennsylvania.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Lonnie Bettin, 3 brothers, John, Joseph and Francis Schiefer.
